another year has come and gone
another chapter in the book
revealed to me and those i love
yet somehow this ambiguous date
holds no real sway over the gods

why should it?
the fact that some grain of sand
revolving around some
insignificant speck of light
in the outer reaches
of some forgotten galaxy
has made it around once more

it's just another day
like any other day
a chance to make amends
and look forward to new opportunity

may the gods keep u safe tonight
amateur night can be precarious
