On Thursday night it was reported that the bomber had been invited onto the base and had not been searched.

A former senior intelligence official told the Associated Press that the man was being courted as an informant and that it was the first time he had been brought inside the camp.
A separate US official suggested the bomber may have set off the explosives as he was about to be searched.

The ambitious plan envisages the co-operation of Nasa, the European and Chinese space agencies to pull off a mission with echoes of a Hollywood blockbuster.

"People's lives are at stake. We should pay several hundred million dollars and build a system that would allow to prevent a collision, rather than sit and wait for it to happen and kill hundreds of thousands of people," he said.

Some people insist that last night's full moon was not Blue. They're right. It was orange:

Orange moons are run-of-the-mill atmospheric optics. Earth's atmosphere acts as a dirty lens, distorting and reddening the Moon whenever it hangs too close to the horizon. Orange moons can be seen on most nights if you know when to look. Orange Blue moons, on the other hand, are a little more unusual.
They come along once every 2.7 years, on average.
