Too Many Sunspots At Once
GIANT SINE WAVE: Imagine a sine wave 400,000 km long. Today, NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory is monitoring just such a structure. It's an enormous filament of magnetism slithering over the sun's northeastern limb.
One of the wave troughs appears to be passing through the core of sunspot 1282. If so, an eruption of the sunspot could have an interesting ripple effect on the greater filament, perhaps even causing it to collapse.

How the Dutch may get their first mountain (but they'll have to build it themselves)
What started as a joke about creating an artificial mountain in the utterly flat Netherlands may actually be feasible.
This was not what semi-professional cyclist and journalist Thijs Zonneveld had expected when he posted a column on a popular Dutch news website earlier this month in which he urged people to design their own mountain with alpine slopes, meadows and villages.
But after his article went to press, he realised just how many Dutch people felt the same way - that their nation needed a mountain.

Hundreds of Chinese tourists flee as tidal bore bursts through dam in annual event
Viewing the tidal bore has become an annual tradition for residents nearby, attracting hundreds of visitors each year.
The astonishing natural phenomenon, which is an abrupt uprising of river water, happens when the moon's gravity influence tides from the sea, moving them upstream, resulting in the mesmerising bore.
