US President Barack Obama called on US Congress to finally pass his economic stimulus plan "in the coming week" and vowed to do "whatever it takes" to put America back to work.

ILO director general Juan Somavia said in a statement:

COMMENTS:

Tragedy brings out the best in some and the worst in others. The best is people sticking together, supporting each other, giving donations etc... and the worst is the "baying for blood" of some unknown "criminal".

I have read posts that say he/she should be tortured, burnt alive etc... The anger is understandable but there is no humanity in this response. Each time I hear it said, I imagine a ten year old child playing with his/her mother's matches or lighter or a thoughtless teen throwing a cigarette out of a car window...either of these two scenarios could theoretically set off a chain of events leading to devastation. How much satisfaction will be gained by revenge? The target of your hatred might not be who you imagine them to be.
