Daniel passed quietly in his sleep on February 7 of liver cancer after a brief illness. He was one of the better human beings to have ever walked this planet. He was loved and respected by everyone who ever met him, and he felt the same about every one of them. He will be missed beyond words.

"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle."

Let the good in me

U.S. approves first drug from DNA-altered animals

The drug, GTC Biotherapeutics Inc's anti-clotting therapy Atryn, is an intravenous therapy made using a human protein gathered from female goats specially bred to produce it in their milk.

It aims to prevent excessive blood clots in patients with a disorder known as hereditary antithrombin deficiency. The company estimates the condition affects anywhere from 60,000 to 600,000 people in the United States.

DUSKY LUNAR ECLIPSE:

On Monday, Feb. 9th, the full Moon will pass through the outskirts of Earth's shadow, producing a penumbral lunar eclipse.

The event should be easily visible to the naked eye as a dusky shading of the northern half of the Moon.

A similar eclipse in March 2006 looked like this:

Stefan Seip took the picture from Welzheim, Germany. Note the gray shadow, lower-right, intruding on what should be a uniformly-lit full Moon. This kind of eclipse is not as dramatic as a deep-red total lunar eclipse, but it does have a subtle, almost-surprising beauty which should not be dismissed until you've seen one with your own eyes.

Maximum eclipse occurs on Monday between the hours of 1400 and 1520 UT (6:00 am - 7:20 am Pacific time; 4:00 a.m. - 5:40 am Hawaii time).

Most women do not understand a thing about men

Women tend to think of themselves as victims of men´s games.

As a rule, they do not acknowledge any responsibility for an unsuccessful relationship and think of men as emotional criminals.

The woman´s world evolves around Bridget Jones Diaries and Sex and the City.

This world portrays men as either charming scoundrels or weddable downers.

Europe, beware: Obama speaks with two tongues

In line with Samuel Huntington's concept of a struggle between civilizations, at least since 9/11 2001, the US has been engaged in a widely publicized war on Muslim fundamentalism. It has been trying with reasonable success to draw its European client states into the fight as well, but the Europeans seem reluctant to go whole hog.

After all, there are sizeable Muslim minorities in most of Western Europe. North African Muslims, especially young male Moroccans who tend to be woefully undereducated, constitute a serious social problem in countries like France, the Netherlands and Belgium.

Are fossils really millions years old?

Haven't geologists proved from scientific dating methods that the earth is 4.5 billion years old? Doesn't astronomy prove that the universe must, at least, be billions of years old since it would have required billions of years for light from the nearest stars to reach the earth? Don't all qualified scientists, including geologists, believe in Darwinian evolution and a billions of years old Earth and universe? The simple answer is "No".

Both evolutionists and creationists have certain built-in assumptions in interpreting and using scientific data when it comes to the earth's age. The issue many times comes down to which assumptions are more reasonable. Dating rocks is not a hard (no pun intended) science.
