First Guantanamo trial opens under Obama

Khadr, accused of throwing a grenade that killed a US soldier during a July 2002 battle in Afghanistan, kept up the suspense about his court appearance until the last minute. In July he threatened to boycott the military tribunal process, which he criticised as an unfair "sham".

Thursday will be best night in five years to view spectacular Perseids meteor shower

Experts say that with the moon in its 'new' phase and clear skies this week could mean that it's the best year since 2007 to catch the spectacular show.

On the night of the 12 August the new moon’s thin crescent will have set in the early evening, leaving a dark sky for the meteor shower, promising a stunning show of shooting stars.

Britain's oldest house at 10,500 years old is uncovered by archaeologists

'We used to think they moved around a lot and left little evidence. Now we know they built large structures and were very attached to particular places in the landscape.'

What was with the number (10.500) again?
Oh yes ... pyramides ... Gizeh... Robert Bauval ... constellations ...

INCOMING CME:

The solar eruption of August 7th might affect Earth after all. Newly-arriving data from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) show a CME heading our way with a significant Earth-directed component.

The impact of this lopsided CME probably won't trigger a major geomagnetic storm - but the SOHO data show it could be bigger than expected.

Stop Jane Burgermeister from Going to Prison for Speaking the Truth

When the story of the Swine Flu pandemic broke, it was a terrible scare. Jane Burgermeister (an Austrian reporter) did what everyone else did & warned the public about the dangers of this illness & urged everyone to get vaccinated against it with the H1N1 vaccine.

While covering this story, she uncovered evidence that it was a hoax designed by the World Health Organization & the United Nations to scare people into getting vaccinated.

She turned all of her evidence over to the FBI 7 reported what she had found out to the public.

Title of this article is very 'wrong' in the eye of "visionstatements" ... the word "NOT", in a sentence, ISN'T HEARD in the Universe ... so unty the kNOT.

The crack in the roof of the world

Greenland, they say, is literally cracking up; just last week, while I was on the island, a chunk of ice the size of West London fell off it into the Arctic ocean.

Sceptics, of course, maintain that the scene before me is just the result of the natural fluctuations which affect the world's weather.
Either way, it is utterly beautiful.

Human race 'must colonise space or face extinction', warns Stephen Hawking

'But I am an optimist. If we can avoid disaster for the next two centuries our species should be safe as we spread into space.'
