Earth and sky in electrifying battle of the elements
TWO spectacular forces of nature produced an incredible brew in the skies of Chile yesterday as avolcanic eruption met a lightning storm.
Tonnes of dust and ash from the eruption of the Chaiten volcano poured into the night sky just as an electric storm was passing overhead.
The resulting collision created an extraordinary sight as lightning flickered around the dust cloud in the fiery, orange glow of the volcano.

The Wednesday Message from InspirationPeak
Stop thinking this is all there is...
Realize that for every ongoing war and religious outrage and environmental devastation, there are a thousand counter-balancing acts of staggering generosity and humanity and art and beauty happening all over the world, right now, on a breathtaking scale, from flower box to cathedral.
Resist the temptation to drown in fatalism, to shake your head and sigh and just throw in the karmic towel.
Realize that this is the perfect moment to change the energy of the world, to step right up and crank your personal volume; right when it all seems dark and bitter and offensive and acrimonious and conflicted and bilious... there's your opening!
And, finally, believe you are part of a groundswell, a resistance, a seemingly small but actually very, very large impending karmic overhaul, a great shift, the beginning of something important and potent and unstoppable.

TarotCard for NOW
The Tower
The Tower represents sudden and unexpected change.
It signifies the destruction of something that was not built on a solid foundation.
With this change comes a time of disorder and chaos, but from this comes great improvement and newfound strength. This is an opportunity for you to start over and right your wrongs.

Vallejo, California City Officials Vote to File for Bankruptcy
The city council's unanimous decision makes the San Francisco suburb the largest city in California ever to file for bankruptcy and the first local government in the state to seek protection from creditors because it ran out of money amid the worst housing slump in the U.S. in 26 years.

Learning to Live with Less (it is for a reason, but for some it may be hard):
Frustrated owners try to unload their guzzlers
After paying $75 to fill his black Dodge Ram pickup truck for the third time in a week, Douglas Chrystall couldn't take it anymore.
Feeling pinched at the pump, and guilty as well, Chrystall, a 39-year-old father from Wellesley, is putting ads online to sell the truck, and the family's other gas-guzzler, a Jeep Grand Cherokee. He knows it will be tough to unload them because he is one of a growing number of consumers downsizing to smaller, more fuel-efficient cars.

Where's the CAT?
This amazing picture shows the skeleton of Kohl the kitten inside the snake's stomach. The eight-week-old tabby's skull is three times the size of the python's head.

Al Gore Calls Myanmar Cyclone a 'Consequence' of Global Warming
I say: Now we have even more reason to 'doubt' this 'natural disaster'.
Using tragedy to advance an agenda has been a strategy for many global warming activists, and it was just a matter of time before someone found a way to tie the recent Myanmar cyclone to global warming.

First posting here about the cyclone and when you click on this link now, you are redirected to another page instead of the page linked-to on may 4, 2008. Searching in TNYTimes gives THIS LINK and is dated may 5, while I posted the same article on may 4.
The cyclone came only a week ahead of a key referendum on a constitution backed by Myanmar's military leaders as an important step forward on their 'roadmap to democracy.'
